For my senior thesis in physics and astronomy at the University of Rochester, I developed Spectral-ViT, a vision-transformer model that classifies supernovae from their spectra. The project adapted the transformer architecture to supernova detection in data from the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) survey.
